Bream Rigs 29-7-13

Ive been experimenting this season with my bream rigs.I love the pallatrax the hook range of 10,s and 12,s.
Until i discovered the Gardner specimen hook range, ive been using 10,s and 12,s.
The hook itself has a nice large eye for threading braid through and is a beaked point and has an 5 degree
inturned eye. There very sharp and cant believe i havnt got a blunt one yet.

In the picture above i have 3 rigs, the top one is the 3 corn rig and the hook is positioned slightly down ,this has been a great rig of late. The other two rigs are what i normally use for pellet. The secon rig has a piece of
bouyant foam, just helps it pop up out of the feed.

I like to make my rigs between 4-5 inches. The braid i have been using is garner trickster, which lies nice and flat. The other is drennan which is slightly thicker and is very similar to the gardner.

A great days bream fishing 28-7-13

Arrived at the lake and set up the pod, ground to hard for sticks, hate pod,s..................

It wasnt long before both rods went and two in the net, great start.................................

Bait 27-7-13

Well my bait supply was getting real low.I had a look through my bait buckets and found some vitalin .
The vitalin will be my base for my bulk mix .I just needed to add some particles and pellets to it.With all my other baits used up,i needed to get out and buy some more.

We went out today and ended up in B &M ,i noticed a selection of bait they had in and took a look. What i saw cost wise looked a pretty reasonable price too.I purchased some hemp, particle mix ,some boilies too crush up,halibut pellets and some drilled halibut pellets. All priced at £1.99 a bag..................

I normally like to buy in bulk, especially pellets,i just hadnt got round to it this year as i had quite a few left.
I must admit i like to buy quality bait and cant really say yet whether this bait is quality enough.Im looking to add to the vitalin ,so for the price its turned out to be a bargain........................

ABU Cardinal 155

Ive always fancied these reels. Now it seems most go for the 55.I wasnt even fishing when these came out.
I have managed to source two of the 155 and really pleased with them, spooled up with subline.....
I would give this reel 8 out of 10 for condition, the other probably 6..........................

The one nearest needs a new handle, its been touched up,be 7 out of 10 then....................

Not sure what im using them for yet, fancy some canal carp fishing......................................

8 Bream and a Roach 21-7-13

Yesterday i was helping out at my girlfriends garden party,so fishing sunday was on the cards.
I decided to fish the afternoon into darkness.I arrived shortly after 3 and set up in a peg i,d fished before.
Usual method, esp method feeder, halibut pellet on one rod, double corn on the other.

Id mixed micro,s for the method, and my ball mix would be bloodworm pellet, corn, hemp and crushed boilie.
I put 10 balls over each rod fishing at 40-50 yards out.
Balls made easy with the nash ball maker................................

The set up,must take pod next time......................................

Getting Bigger..................................

Probably the biggest.........................

A lovely roach........................................
Had a great session,no monsters. The Subline did what it said on the tin, spot on.........

Subline

My line was looking tired last time i went fishing for tench.I was useing synchro xt in 12lb.It kept getting twisted round the rod tip and looked gnarley. So it was time for a change, its been on two seasons.I normally change all my other reels every season.I hadnt got round to changing the synchro. So what was the plan,to buy more or have a change.Id read on the net that people had problems with synchro and couldnt get on with it,personally i hadnt had any issues till now,had i left it on too long ??/?....I decided to have a change and started to look round at various lines. My main priority for the line i wanted had to be,abrasion resistant and had to sink .So off to republic and bought a spool of subline. On examining the line out of the tin,it seemed more supple than xt.Difference in the price between subline and xt,subline £1 more.So soaked in a bucket and spooled on the epix pro,s.A few would say 12lb is excessive for tench and bream, but i need assurance that if i catch a carp im not under gunned.....................
Will be making it debut on sunday, does it do what it says on the tin, will report back with a full report.....
Used it sunday 21 July 2013,Did what it said on the tin,SPOT ON...................

Diawa Reels (Old School)

Diawa td 1350dm............................
Rear drag reel, long cast spool.Holds Approx 100 m of line.Perfect for longer chucks on the tip rod.
Diawa 2553i.............................
Another rear drag reel, holds approx 100m.Spooled up with supplex 6lb,use this reel for trotting and all close in float work.......................

Diawa 2503XiA..............................
I have two of these reels. The one in picture is spooled up with 8lb Berkley flurocarbon vanish. The reel features a clutch at the front, very smooth with numbered settings,so you can set the tension to perfection. The other reel is on my pellet waggler set up.

WHY OLD SCHOOL........
Ive messed around with quite a few different reels for my coarse fishing, had a few shimano reels,a whisker and a drennan series 7 reel. You could say ive a reel fetish, which is probably true with swapping and changing.I started looking round at early model reels, these are from the 90,s and were around the £70-£100 Mark when they were produced. They are a very reliable reel to use,no spool wobble and in near perfect condition.Im not saying these reels are better than whats out there today, but i have found the reels that complete my set ups.I also have plenty of spools, original box,s and even the bags.

Two Waters 14/7/13

Decided today to fish two waters. The plan on water 1 was to fish pole at 6 mtrs.I put in a ball of groundbait and 4mm pellet and fished dead maggot over the top.I caught plenty of perch,Gudgeon,a few roach ,tench and a crucian and a good few slabs.I decided at 11 to have an hour on the method and managed a few more slabs and another tench.
Time to move to water no 2.I set up and fished at about 40 yards, fishing pellet on the method and double corn.Wasnt long before i was into some good slabs. After about an hour the bites dried up and i switched to tiger fish pellet and i was back into the bream again and a nice roach.A good days fishing and was pleased to say ill be back, two great waters...........................

Double corn on the method...................................

A great hookbait, been using it since last season.........................
Had plenty of slabs on water no 2,wasnt the biggest i had ,but a great day.............

German Lane Euxton Leyland

Well today the plans were set to pick Clive up and go to a Prince Albert Water. We arrived to see a sign saying no fishing today for non work party members, well that was a low blow.We wernt a million miles from german lane so headed there. We got two swims at the back of the island and carp were spawning every where.Tactics today were Tip,waggler and pole.We both caught well on the pole with plenty of roach, ide, rudd and perch and on the tip. Also managed on the waggler too.We had a great day even though the u turn we made paid off.German lane consists off a canal style lake and a specimen lake. Some good fish to be caught, bigger carp on the specimen lake.Nice to get out with clive,no doubt we,ll be out again soon.
Tight lines
The swim..............................
