Bradshaw Hall Fisheries 12-6-23

I was invited to fish a match with crescent angling club on Lake 4.The weather forecast was going to be a warm day .I decided to slap at 13metres and I’d set a rod up with a slow sinking feeder.

We had the whole lake I’d drawn peg 23 on the wall.I started off at a depth of 2 ft and was into 2 carp straight away .I had to keep changing depths down to 12 inches as the fish were not at one depth .After nearly 2 hours and 16 carp I was finding it hard in the heat to get the fish at a consistent depth .I swapped over to slow sinking feeder , loading up with micros and an 8mm pellet as a Hookbait .from the first cast it was a fish a Chuck .The feeder rarely hit the bottom and I was catching at all depths .

I decided I would carry on now till the end of the match on the slow sinking feeder as it was getting better and better throughout the match .

Was suprised when I caught this carp .I did have a couple of roach during the match .At the weigh in I thought I’d done better than my actual weight of 74 lb 8oz.

Tench 28-4-23

Another straight from work session.Arrived at 4-30pm and only 3 cars on car park.I got peg 3 for the first time ever.Same tactics as the last session maggot feeders .it was a gorgeous evening to be fishing.

What a lovely view from my swim.It wasn’t long before my right hand rod had a drop back . A lovely Rudd hit the net .

I was casting every 20 minutes to get some maggots out there on the spot.

This fella was enjoying maggots aswell .
Just before 7pm my left hand rod was off and after a good scrap my first tench of the evening was in the net .

And what a belter, the only Tench of the night .
Tight lines , Till the next time.

20-4-23 Tench

I’m back , it’s been a while.Decided to start spring off with a tench campaign .This water can be very busy at weekends so I decided to go after work .I arrived at the lake just after 4-40 to see 5 cars .As I opened the gate a guy was leaving and he told me what pegs were taken . I decided on peg 12 , normally float fish there and have caught tench so headed round there .

The peg , clear skies, warm and no wind. I put one rod near far margin reeds and the other close in . I was using maggot feeders and a corn maggot cocktail Hookbaits.

The trouble with this peg is it’s narrow and there isn’t much room .I was casting every 15 minutes to get some maggot down .

This fella was enjoying his free maggots and obliged for a photo . At 6-30 my margin rod was off and I landed my first tench of 23 .

Nice start , not huge but welcome .I fished till 8pm and decided as the weather changed and the wind was blowing into my peg to pack up and get home for some grub.
Till the next time , Tight lines .

Bradshaw hall Fishery 12-6-22

So today saw a march with crescent angling club on lake 6.I drew peg 2 , nice peg as I had an island in front and a nice gap for the tip.Plan off attack was the bomb and pellet and slow sinking feeder.I also was going to use a jigga float on the pole at 11metres . I started of on bomb and pellet , in the first hour I managed one carp and a lost carp .The weather was windy or sunny ,nice chop on the water .At 11am I decided I was going to abandon the tip rods and try the jigga float .

I started catching straight away with a bream then a roach then a steady amount of carp. I was really enjoying catching shallow , working the jigga up and down and catching at depths of 2ft to 6 inches . All off a sudden all hell broke lose and Alan in the next peg had lost 4 sections of his pole, Alan went in and nearly got it, I had a couple of casts to try and retrieve it , then someone else tried as it was out of range , it sank .

Alan swimming back to his peg, I felt gutted for him .

I was catching steady all day and building a good weight , I lost about 8 carp in total along the way .As the afternoon progressed I was catching steady . In the last 15 minutes I caught 5 carp, as all out was shouted the heavens opened and it poured down , didn’t see that coming .

1st Darren 116-4

2nd Me 64-5

3rd Mike 51-4

Eddie managed a great net too with 28-12.

A really enjoyable day, some great weights and the jigga was exciting .

Till the next time , river season start in a few days , need to get the gear ready .Tight Lines.

Bradshaw Hall Fisheries 5-6-22

Well today I had a match with crescent angling on Lake 3.I drew peg 6 and was happy as it was an open water peg so I could fish the tip.Two rods made up, pellet feeder and bomb rod .8mm Ringers Pellet on the band .The weather was wet for the first couple of hours .The carp were jumping clear of the water a lot due to they have spawned .I had what I thought was a decent couple of hours , 9 Carp and a Tench .

My swim , I was casting around half way with plenty of bites , few times had fish on then off, probably F1,s.By 1-30 I wasn’t catching as many but casting more if I’d had no indications on the tip.

By the time it got to 3 o’clock it had dried up and the fish had moved towards the island , I switched to bomb and pellet feeding 8mm pellets .I caught 6 more carp and lost two and it was all out .

Reservoir carp

Well if you’ve been wondering where I’ve been I’m having a campaign on a 36 acre Resovoir for carp.I’ve wanted to do this for a while as I love waters like these always have, that big expanse of water and what lurks beneath . I’m on my 5th Plank at the moment fishing various parts of the lake trying to find carp with no sightings it’s been difficult but I’m enjoying it whatever the session long or short .I started of in a bay that joins the narrow part of the lake where it joins the larger side ,it’s a fairly long walk and I’m travelling as light as possible .I’m hoping as we get going into summer I can find them ,I’m rather impatient sat behind bite alarms for a long length of time .Where the narrow part meets the bend of the lake really appeals to me and keeps dragging me back , my last session was on the main lake .Chris has joined me on a couple of occasions .I’m hoping to get back up soon and get the marker float out and discover all the depths , that’s my next session to try to unlock the res .

This was from my first session , lovely bay where the main lake meets the narrow arm .

I’m on a match tmos , so till the next time ,Stay safe .
