I was invited to fish a match with crescent angling club on Lake 4.The weather forecast was going to be a warm day .I decided to slap at 13metres and I’d set a rod up with a slow sinking feeder.
We had the whole lake I’d drawn peg 23 on the wall.I started off at a depth of 2 ft and was into 2 carp straight away .I had to keep changing depths down to 12 inches as the fish were not at one depth .After nearly 2 hours and 16 carp I was finding it hard in the heat to get the fish at a consistent depth .I swapped over to slow sinking feeder , loading up with micros and an 8mm pellet as a Hookbait .from the first cast it was a fish a Chuck .The feeder rarely hit the bottom and I was catching at all depths .
I decided I would carry on now till the end of the match on the slow sinking feeder as it was getting better and better throughout the match .
Was suprised when I caught this carp .I did have a couple of roach during the match .At the weigh in I thought I’d done better than my actual weight of 74 lb 8oz.
1st Darren 97lb
2nd Gavin 91 lb
3rd Me 74 lb 8
It was a tough day and time to go home get my gear put away , shower and go back to wales where I’m working .I was sore next day H a ha .
Tight lines , till the next blog
