Bank Holiday Bonanza Tench & Bream 26-5-14

After the shocking return of the rain again on saturday & sunday,Monday looked the best day to get outr a bream & tench session.

I finally managed to drag Lee out,the man,s gone river mad,ha ha.We decided to fish a local day tkt water ive fished a few times, and as lee as only walked the venue,it was a first trip for him.

Tactics today for me were esp flat bed method feeder on both rods, rotating pellet and boilie hook baits.
Lee,s chosen method was a 2oz lead ,pva bag and a method ball feeder, various hookbaits.

After loosing what felt like a good tench and a bream, this fish was my fourth bream of the session.

Lee took first blood with the tench,a fine 6.2 and a venue PB.lee experienced lots of liners during the session
and not long after lost a good fish.................................................

Next it was my turn,5 on the dot.............................................

My biggest bream and my 7th of the session.........................................

Another 5 on the dot ,my second tench.A really enjoyable session, good company.Nice to get out with Lee,soon be barbel time, thanks mate.....................................

Canal Sessions Part 1 & 2 ......17-18 may 2014

This weekends Tench & Bream session was interupted by work this last week,so i decided to start my canal campaign for carp..............................

I had been pre-baiting for just over 3 weeks in two areas.I arrived on saturday evening and fished one rod to my feature directly in front, and the other rod 40 yards further down to the tree i had baited up.At about 7-30 pm my tree rod roared off,and it wasnt a carp................................
It was a tench........................................

I stayed on until dark with no more bites........................................

Sunday saw me arrive a little later than saturday,i quickly set up and cast to the same areas, except the tree swim,i dropped it short. It took about an hour before my left hand rod roared off,and you guessed it,wasnt a carp either............................................

Yet another tench,not complaining.............................................

I fished well into dark and the session finished the same as saturday.About an hour before i left,i baited two other area,s.....................................

Breaking Surface Charity Match 10th May 2014

This years charity was in aid of macmillan cancer support at bradshaw hall fishery. The weather wasnt looking too bad sunshine showers and a down pour lol.I drew peg 32,method feeder and pellet waggler.I was pretty much into 2 bream straight away, then nothing on the method for about an hour,i kept recasting hoping for a bite,i had a few good pull rounds on the tip,but they shed the hook.

I changed over to the pellet waggler for about 20 mins, the wind wasnt helping me,so i changed over to a slow sinking feeder, wish i had started the day with it,i managed 5 carp late on,wasnt enough, but really enjoyed it.
Neil peel with a bend in his rod,old school tackle as well..............................................

I managed a common and a mirror for two rod race points and finished the match with 24.04

Well done to Dave 80 lb Martin 66 lb and neel peel with 57 lb.

After the weigh in it was off to the crofters arms for the auction and raffle.I won a couple of raffle prizes and bought some auction prizes, all in all a great day and hopefully a good amount of money raised.
Look forward to next years,Tight Lines....................................................

Canal Carp 2-5-14

I mentioned in my blog last year about fishing for canal carp.I ve spent ages on google looking for an area i can fish and pre-bait.The area i have found looks like a fish holding area with some nice features.

I started to look into bait and rigs and couldnt believe choosing a boilie would be such a mine field. After having a chat with someone i know ive settled for a bait that im really happy with.On the website the owner says this, all mt baits are shelf life that act and look like fresh, also they break down faster than freezer baits,im glad about this as i dont want to leave a load of bait to go rotten,so thats the bait..............
The Boilies 15mm........................................

The next step was choosing a rig and how to present it.Ive settle for a KD Rig,supple hooklink ,bright pop-up in a pva bag with pellet. The only thing that seemed a problem was making the bags up and attaching them.
Ive incorperated a short length of lead core to an inline 2 oz lead.what i wanted was turn up attach bags ,cast out and fish and this way makes sense ....................

Pre tied bags ready with short lengh of leadcore, arrive at canal, tie bag on and cast out, like it its simple.

The other thing was pre bait, when and what time.Im only goin to fish short sessions so decided on evening time,so wanted to ring the dinner bell, lol. At the moment ive baited up between 5-45 and 5-55 so the plan is to keep the bait going in every 3 days till im ready to fish.
